How much does YouTube video editing cost?
What businesses pay for YouTube and long-form editing, what changes the quote, and how Kohsarian’s starting prices are structured.

YouTube video editing cost is confusing because two quotes can describe two different films. One is a tidy talking-head with captions. The other is a 40-minute interview, three cameras, custom motion, and a thumbnail you expected to be “included.”
This article explains what businesses typically pay for, what moves the number, and how Kohsarian pricing is set today. It is not a survey of every editor on the internet. Those rates go stale, and they rarely include the same work.
Kohsarian’s starting prices
Long-form YouTube editing starts at $275 per video. A Short cut from existing long-form starts at $40; a Short developed from scratch starts at $75. Thumbnails start at $50. Monthly production — four videos with packaging and scheduling — starts at $800 (Starter). Growth is $1,500 and includes 4–8 YouTube videos plus 8 Shorts per month. Full Management is $2,500 and includes 4–10 videos plus 8 Shorts per month, with additional Shorts available as needed. All prices are starting points. Finished length, footage quality, and complexity change the quote.
| Work | Starting price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Long-form YouTube video | $275 / video | Pacing, captions, B-roll, basic motion, YouTube-ready delivery |
| YouTube Short | $40 / video | Cut from existing long-form; built-from-scratch Shorts start at $75 |
| Thumbnail | $50 | Design and direction |
| Starter plan | $800 / month | Four videos, packaging, upload, one revision round |
| Growth plan | $1,500 / month | Starter plus Shorts, strategy call, analytics |
| Full Management | $2,500 / month | Growth plus calendar, community, priority production |
What a professional YouTube edit is buying
YouTube video editing services at Kohsarian are built for how people watch: they decide in the first seconds, they leave at confusion, and they rarely give a second chance. That is different from a brand film made to impress a room, and different from a festival color grade.
- A structure that makes a talk, podcast, or walkthrough feel inevitable.
- Pacing against spoken rhythm, not a music bed that never shuts up.
- Captions that remain readable on a phone.
- B-roll and motion where attention needs help — not decoration for its own sake.
- A finish that can hand the viewer a next video.
The file is not done when picture is locked if you also bought packaging. Title, thumbnail, and the first frame have to agree. If you only bought the cut, do not be surprised when packaging is a separate line. Read what makes a good YouTube video edit for the craft, not just the invoice.
Factors that change the quote
- Finished length. A 7-minute expert answer is not a 50-minute roundtable.
- Raw footage quality. Slates, backup audio, and usable light save hours.
- Number of cameras and how well they were synced.
- How much B-roll has to be found versus supplied.
- Motion graphics: lower thirds versus a custom system.
- Revision rounds. One included pass is not an open rewrite.
- Whether Shorts, thumbnails, titles, and upload are in the same job.
In-house editor versus a YouTube editing partner
An in-house editor is right when you have steady volume, a producer who briefs well, and someone who will live with YouTube retention — not only After Effects. A partner is right when you need the cut and the YouTube judgment in the same place, or when hiring a full-time seat is more expensive than the volume you actually have.
Kohsarian is not positioned as the cheapest hour on a marketplace. We edit against the graph on channels we operate. That experience is the reason a business pays a studio instead of a random freelancer. It is not a promise that every video will outperform the last.
How to keep the quote honest
- Send a sample of typical footage, not the one heroic interview.
- State the finished length you want, not “however long it needs.”
- List what you consider done: captions, music, Shorts, thumbnail, upload.
- Say how many revision rounds you expect.
- If you also need the channel run, look at YouTube channel management instead of stuffing ops into an edit fee.
Common mistakes
- Buying the lowest per-video rate and discovering packaging was never included.
- Comparing a 6-minute talking-head quote to a documentary-style episode.
- Sending a 4-hour dump with no selects and expecting a $275 starting price to hold.
- Treating Shorts as free leftovers. They are a separate cut.
- Expecting guaranteed views from an edit. The cut can help people stay. It cannot invent demand.
Questions
- Why is a YouTube edit priced differently from a social cut?
- A YouTube edit is built for retention over minutes, not a five-second loop. Captions, structure, and packaging for search and browse take more time than a feed crop.
- Do Kohsarian editing prices include thumbnails and titles?
- One-off long-form editing is the cut. Monthly Starter and above include a thumbnail, title, description, and upload. Always read the package, not the headline number.
